No See Um
March 30th, 2007 7:17 PM
I am intrigued by this little bug often referred to in this part of the country as a sand flea.  I can't imagine why it is that when it is finally pleasant to be outside in the beautiful Beaufort air, the sand fleas feast on every square inch of your body.  Then, when you retreat back inside the scene of the offense swells up and itches until you scratch it until it bleeds repetitively for days on end.  I have decided that it is my personal mission to discover how to live simultaneously with the Nosiums and still enjoy every moment of this spectacular lowcountry outdoor life.  I have heard many homemade remedies, none of which seem to actually work.  The latest remedy which I will consider trying just once is to mix one part alcohol with one part Avon skin so soft.  I will keep you posted as to how well or not this actually works.  In the meantime, I have learned how to do the Beaufort wave.  It looks much similar to swatting at gnats.  These gnats however, tend to bite and leave their mark often.  So if you see me on the street and you want to talk about real estate in Beaufort, South Carolina, I won't leave the windows down or stand on the porch too long for fear that I might be itching, scratching and bleeding for days.  Tune in next week for my tips for buyers of homes on Lady's Island.

Buyer's Market in Beaufort South Carolina
March 2nd, 2007 7:03 AM
In this quaint coastal town the real estate buzz is alive again.  After a very quiet winter with little activity, sellers are starting to feel rejuvenated by the stir of activity of buyers in Beaufort, South Carolina.  Buyers looking for real estate in Beaufort, South Carolina will be just as happy as other buyers all around the country to know that now is the PERFECT time to buy a home in Beaufort, South Carolina.  Sellers are recognizing that they will need to be fair in determining an asking price for their home.  They also know that buyers are looking for a good deal and are wanting a seller to pay their closing costs and to pay for repairs.  There are still some sellers in Beaufort that are under the impression that they can jack up the price of their home, not even clean it up or make any repairs and that a buyer will beg to buy their home.  They are the ones that are carrying two mortgages and their home will remain unsold for quite a while until they come to their senses.  Buyers in Beaufort, South Carolina are now finally able to take advantage of a market in their favor.  They are writing offers below asking price, asking for closing costs to be paid, and are negotiating all home inspection items to be resolved and paid for by the seller.  The phones are ringing and relocation packages are flying out the door.  Beaufort, South Carolina real estate is alive and well again.  Of course, we never listened to the hype that the market was dead anyway.  Check back again for more interesting thoughts and opinions on Beaufort South Carolina real estate.
